| Saturday, 20 March 2010 By Glenn Davis Promising filly Hidden Kisses booked a Sydney campaign for next month's Group One Sires' Produce Stakes at Randwick following her explosive victory at Eagle Farm. Hidden Kisses made it two wins from three starts with a commanding half-length win in Saturday's Mirvac Hotels & Resorts Handicap (1400m). Trainer Rob Heathcote proved a shrewd judge by electing to start the daughter of Hidden Dragon in Brisbane instead of the more lucrative $250,000 QTIS 600 Plate (1200m) at the Gold Coast. "Little fish are sweet but it was a tough call to turn down the chance of winning a $250,000 race," Heathcote said. "She's got $74,000 more in the tank now after winning this but I must say it's a relief. "I hadn't trained her to run 1400 metres and that was my biggest fear. I expected we'd take her to the Gold Coast to run over 1200 metres." Winning jockey Larry Cassidy produced a perfect display on Hidden Kisses who came from last and never went around another runner. Cassidy has a big opinion of Hidden Kisses and wants to maintain his association on the filly when she heads interstate. "I think she can win a nice race now but I really think she's an Oaks filly next season and what she's doing now is a bonus," Cassidy said. "If she's going to Sydney then I want to go down to ride her. "Potentially she's going to win a big race whether it's now or as a three-year-old." Hidden Kisses cost $25,000 as a yearling but has now earned $159,000 in prizemoney including QTIS bonuses. She's raced by a syndicate of six owners which includes Richard Pegum, a hedge fund trader in London. |
